Individual Therapy

An individualized treatment plan will be developed and tailored to your specific needs as part of the therapy process.

Family Therapy

Family therapy can be the main focus of treatment as well as a beneficial addition to individual therapy. Your therapist will assist you in examining how the other members impact each individual in the family dynamic. couples therapy is often referred to as family therapy.

Your prescriber will provide education regarding possible medication interventions and collaborate with your therapist to ensure both treatments support your goals.

telehealth services

  • Telehealth services are a convenient way to access mental health services from anywhere within the State of MD. With Telehealth services, the client and clinician connect virtually over doxy.me (HIPAA compliant platform)  that uses  video and audio connections. The client and clinician engage in the same assessment, treatment planning, and interventions as in-person therapy. This service is limited based on insurance coverage.

EMDR

  • What is therapy?
Therapy (also called psychotherapy or counseling) is a process where a trained mental health professional helps you explore thoughts, feelings, and behaviors to improve your mental well-being, resolve problems, and cope with life challenges.
  • Who should go to therapy?
Anyone can benefit from therapy—not just those in crisis. It's helpful for people experiencing: Anxiety, depression, or mood swings Stress, burnout, or major life changes Relationship or family issues Grief, trauma, or abuse Personal growth or self-discovery
  • How do I know if I need therapy?
You might consider therapy if you're: Feeling overwhelmed, stuck, or persistently unhappy Struggling with work, school, or relationships Having difficulty managing emotions Experiencing trauma or loss Wanting to understand yourself better
  • What happens in a therapy session?
You’ll talk with a therapist in a private, supportive setting. Sessions may involve: Discussing current issues or past experiences Identifying thought patterns and behaviors Learning coping skills and strategies Setting goals for change
  • How long does therapy take?
It depends on your goals and issues. Some people benefit from short-term therapy (6–12 sessions), while others attend for months or even years.
  • Is therapy confidential?
Yes, therapists are bound by confidentiality laws. Exceptions include situations where you're a danger to yourself or others, or in cases of abuse.
  • Can therapy be done online?
Absolutely. Teletherapy (via video or phone) is effective and widely used, especially post-COVID.
  • How do I start therapy services?
Please go to https://www.peaceofmindmhs.com/ourservices, click new client link, and complete this form to initiate services.
  • How long will it take to begin therapy?
Once we receive your interest form, we will set-up your chart, send you initial paperwork to complete and verify your insurance. Once these things have been completed we will get you scheduled with a therapist.
  • Does health insurance cover mental health care?
Yes, in most cases. Under the Mental Health Parity and Addiction Equity Act (MHPAEA) and the Affordable Care Act (ACA): Mental health and substance use disorder services must be covered the same way as physical health services. That means co-pays, deductibles, and visit limits must be comparable.
  • What mental health services are usually covered?
Individual therapy (psychotherapy or counseling) Group therapy Psychiatric evaluations Medication management (by a psychiatrist/nurse practitioner) Inpatient or outpatient mental health treatment Telehealth (video and audio) Substance use disorder treatment
  • How do I check what’s covered?
You can: Call your insurance company (the number is on your card) Ask: “Do you cover mental health services?” “What’s my co-pay or deductible for therapy?” “Do I need a referral or pre-authorization?” “Do you cover online therapy?” Log in to your insurer's website and search for: Behavioral health Mental health providers in your network
  • In-network vs. out-of-network
In-network: Therapist has a contract with your insurer → lower cost Out-of-network: Higher out-of-pocket cost (some plans reimburse partially) Ask your therapist: "Do you accept my insurance?"
  • What insurance do you accept?
Carefirst BlueCross BlueShield Claimsbridge Cigna/Evergreen John Hopkins Healthcare Maryland Medicaid Medicare United Healthcare (Optum) Out of network insurance providers Please contact us if we do not accept your insurance as you might have out of network benefits.
